Every summer, sisters Barbara and Barbra build the very best lemonade stand on the block — bright cups, sweet lemonade, and a hand-painted sign that says it all. This year, business is booming... until someone else notices.

Voodi, the sisters' mischievous imaginary enemy, only ever shows up when things are going well — and this time, she copies their whole stand and sets up shop right next door. But instead of fighting back, Barbara and Barbra live by one simple rule: "We don't copy. We create."

Long before Voodi ever showed up on a page, she lived in the imagination of two sisters growing up together — author Zerena Khan, and her sister Pherveen. Voodi was their shared invention: an impish, invisible troublemaker they blamed for spilled milk, mismatched socks, and every small chaos of childhood. She was silly. She was theirs.

Decades later, this book is a way of bringing Voodi back into the light — not just as an old inside joke, but as something worth passing on. It's a tribute to Pherveen, to the games sisters invent together, and to the particular magic of a childhood spent imagining things side by side.

Voodi and the Lemonade Stand Swipe is the first book in the Voodi Series, dedicated to Pherveen and to Zerena's granddaughter Zoe, who inspires her every day to see the world with wonder, courage, and kindness.

Zerena Khan is a storyteller and nurse leader who believes the best stories begin with childhood imagination and the simple power of kindness. Her debut picture book, Voodi and the Lemonade Stand Swipe, was inspired by the playful adventures she shared with her sister growing up.
